Destiny 2 Patch Addresses Key Complaint with Pathfinder System

The most recent update for Destiny 2 has addressed several issues within the game, such as improvements to the Pathfinder system.

In The Final Shape, both the Pale Heart exclusive version and the replacement for Ritual Bounties were added as two versions of the feature. The former has been praised for its complementary progression system, while the latter has faced criticism for various reasons.

The main concern among players is that certain nodes alternate between PvE and PvP activities, instead of offering the option to freely choose the content they want to play.

With the implementation of Update 8.0.0.5, players will no longer experience the same inconvenience. According to Bungie’s official patch notes, the Ritual Pathfinder Gambit nodes have been replaced with a general node on certain cards, ensuring that there will always be a viable path that can be completed through either PvE or PvP activities.

Some Gambit-only nodes have been replaced making the hybrid PvE/PvP game mode less important.

As expected, the change has been well-received. One reply on a Reddit thread discussing the update received over 1,400 upvotes and stated, “Pathfinder can now be completed through PvE or PvP only! This is great.”

Despite some Guardians suggesting that the system is still flawed and should be divided into separate Pathfinder cards for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit, the changes were still welcomed. One Guardian remarked, “While I do think each Ritual activity should have its own Pathfinder, having a guaranteed PvE path is still a victory.”

“Another player expressed their thoughts on the update, stating that it was a significant improvement, although there was still room for improvement as there was still a possibility of encountering difficult objectives. However, they acknowledged that it was a step in the right direction.”

While many changes have been well-received, there have been some that have not been as positively received. For instance, Update 8.0.0.5 addressed a prevalent exploit in Destiny 2’s Dual Destiny Exotic mission, which prevented players from obtaining two Exotic class items in a single run.

The drop rates for chests in the Pale Heart have not been altered, therefore solo players will not be impacted by the Exotic Mission’s nerf.
