Destiny 2 Players Express Frustration with Ritual Pathfinder’s Baffling Shortcomings

The introduction of The Final Shape has introduced numerous new systems for Destiny 2 players to familiarize themselves with and utilize. Among these, the Pathfinder tree holds significant importance. However, many fans are dissatisfied with its current implementation and are urging Bungie for significant modifications.

Currently, there are two separate Pathfinder trees available in Destiny 2. One requires players to complete tasks in the recently added Pale Heart area, and offers rewards upon completion. This new direction for achieving specific objectives has been well received by many players.

Another significant factor causing frustration among players is Ritual Pathfinder, which was specifically created to serve as a substitute for Crucible, Vanguard and Gambit bounties. This has sparked numerous complaints on social media as disappointed players share their discontent.

A player on Reddit asserted that the Ritual Pathfinder tree is in a state of conflict with itself due to numerous perceived internal inconsistencies.

The main criticisms are two in number. The primary one is that it involves a solitary tree that forces players to switch between different activities. This goes against the streak system in Destiny, which rewards players for focusing on either Strikes, Crucible, or Gambit.

One of the main concerns is that it fails to address other problems related to bounties, except for the inconvenience of having to frequently return to the Tower. Numerous individuals promptly supported the initial post, with one stating, “I find it perplexing how different Ritual Pathfinder is compared to Pale Heart Pathfinder.”

“Pale Heart Pathfinder is truly amazing. The rewards are definitely worth the effort and I am able to complete most of the nodes by just playing Overthrow, which is a fantastic activity to participate in.”

One person also commented, stating that they were okay with the ritual PF until reaching the final node which required killing 150 Taken enemies in playlist strikes. They noted that this objective was difficult to complete as it relied on random chance and was not possible to achieve all at once.

Ultimately, there are multiple possibilities for the future of Destiny 2’s Pathfinder system. Bungie may choose to divide the activity types into distinct branches, resolving the various problems that players are currently facing. Additionally, as three episodes are scheduled to unfold in the coming year, there will likely be additional improvements and changes implemented in the near future.
