Destiny 2 Players Express Frustration with Truly Awful Onslaught Issue in The Final Shape

The Onslaught activity in Destiny 2 has been met with criticism from players due to a recurring issue, leading to calls for changes to be made to one of its “truly terrible”maps.

Debuted in Into The Light, Onslaught is a timeless base defense mode that offers valuable Brave weapons as rewards. The mode alternates between three maps – Midtown, Vostok, and Mothyards – on a weekly basis.

On Reddit, a player requested for the map to be taken out of Onslaught’s rotation, citing their complaints with the Cosmodrome location. They mentioned issues such as enemies spawning too far away and a low density of enemies due to them scattering from their packs.

The person continued their rant, stating that the third map was significantly worse than the other two and even went as far as to demand that Bungie provide double drops for Mothyards alone due to its subpar quality.

Prior to the launch of The Final Shape, Guardians had the ability to choose which map they wanted to play for an Onslaught run. The reason for this option being removed remains unknown, but there have been suggestions to reintroduce “the ability to select the map in non-matchmade versions”as the only necessary solution.

“I concur. Every time I have played Onslaught since The Final Shape, it has always been Mothyards. It is truly dreadful,”another person sympathized.

Despite widespread belief, a few comments expressed a desire for content to not be completely removed. If Bungie were to reintroduce the option for Guardians to select their preferred arena, this would no longer be necessary.

The developer has acknowledged in a previous update that they are open to either rolling back or improving the content of Into The Light, as they have reintroduced Brave weapon attuning. While it is possible that they will consider feedback and make changes, their current focus is most likely on ensuring a successful launch of Echoes Act 3.

On August 27, the last portion of Destiny 2’s initial Episode will be released, introducing additional narrative elements, fresh activities, an Exotic Mission, and other additions.
