Destiny 2 Players Outraged by Bungie’s Response to Engram Drop Rate Controversy

The Destiny 2 developers have left the gaming community frustrated after addressing player feedback regarding the Skywatch Engram drop rate, which many Guardians found unsatisfactory.

Currently, Destiny 2 is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with various events that include new updates about the studio’s future plans, emphasizing greater transparency and communication.

Along with this, the developers have introduced new content, such as a fresh armor set, a NERFed version of the Ace of Spades, and a new title called “Legend” for players to pursue.

This title, like others in Destiny 2, requires Guardians to meet several challenging criteria, many of which relate to the ongoing 10th Anniversary event. These tasks include completing Timeline Missions and obtaining the Legendary Veteran armor set. However, one specific requirement has caused considerable discontent among players, and Bungie’s response only intensified the situation.

The “Accidental Generosity” triumph requires players to defeat enemies and collect engrams in the Skywatch area of the Cosmodrome. While this concept appears straightforward, many Guardians found the grind excessively tedious due to the intense competition for engrams and the low drop rate associated with them.

Numerous players voiced concerns about the grindiness of this achievement, prompting Bungie to announce forthcoming adjustments. The developers stated that they would enhance enemy density in the Skywatch area in the next update. However, this change was not sufficient to satisfy the disappointed Guardians.

Destiny 2 players are frustrated with the low drop rates of Engrams in Skywatch.

Players articulated that the primary issue wasn’t the density of enemies but rather the exceptionally low engram drop rate, compounded by the high quantity needed to progress towards the title.

“The number of engrams needed, or the percentage they give, is the problem, not enemy density,” one player stated.

“The main issue isn’t enemy density, it’s legendary engram drop %. Since Blue sources are gone, getting the drops only from enemies killed and not other sources is hindering this grind,” another player concurred.

Engrams drop randomly from slain enemies in Destiny 2, necessitating players to continuously hunt down foes to obtain even a small chance of receiving one. Many players reported needing approximately 14-15 Engrams to complete the triumph.

The excessively grindy nature of this achievement has soured the experience for many Guardians, with some labeling it as “concerning.”

“It’s really concerning how poorly this launched. It has diminished the excitement generated by other announcements,” one user expressed. “I hope you all can improve on quality control and testing because these failures build negative sentiment in the community.”

“The celebration feels really off compared to the 30th Anniversary content,” another user remarked.

Bungie has yet to confirm any further adjustments, but they have emphasized that players still have several weeks remaining to earn the title.
