Players continue to grapple with the dreaded Guitar error in Destiny 2, a bug that prompts unexpected crashes at the most inopportune times, much to their dismay. This glitch has plagued gamers since the launch of the game, diminishing the overall experience.
The Guitar error has persisted throughout the years, consistently disrupting gameplay. Guardians are often abruptly ejected from the game without any apparent reason whenever the error code appears on their screens.
According to Bungie, this issue generally stems from not picking up too many items during gameplay. Specifically, the error is triggered when players neglect to collect resources such as Glimmer or Orbs of Power, resulting in a frustrating memory management problem.
After over five years of enduring this bug, players are reaching their breaking point. The issue has become particularly pronounced with the latest expansions and activities within Destiny 2, leaving many feeling that their gaming experience is unfairly compromised.
The Escalating Impact of the Guitar Error on Gameplay
One frustrated player took to Reddit to share their encounter with the Guitar error while participating in the Onslaught: Salvation activity at Widow’s Court. This player reported the error surfaced during Wave 49, just as they were on the cusp of completing the challenge.
“This is beyond being just a nuisance. It’s evolved into being game-breaking. I could tolerate it happening in patrol zones, but to have it happen in seasonal activities now is the absolute last straw for me,” the player lamented.
Bungie released Onslaught: Salvation in October 2024.
The community’s feedback highlights a growing discontent. Many players echo this sentiment, as evidenced by one user lamenting their frequent encounters with the error during The Pale Heart activity. They expressed concern, stating that “the game is in danger of becoming unplayable.”
Another player revealed that, despite a strong desire to engage with the Arc Conductor Ergo Sum, they had refrained from participating in The Pale Heart for months due to recurrent frustrations tied to the error.
Although Bungie has addressed the Guitar error in the past, a comprehensive solution remains elusive. The memory-related nature of the issue suggests a deeper connection to the proprietary Tiger Engine driving Destiny 2, complicating the fix.
