Destiny 2 PvE Players Worried About Potential Over-Nerfing of New Exotics in PvP

The addition of new Exotics in PvP through The Final Shape has caused concern among Destiny 2 players about the potential for Bungie to nerf them in a future update.

In the past, Bungie has been inconsistent in its approach to balance changes. While it has made targeted adjustments to specific items in certain areas of the game, leaving them unchanged elsewhere, the Destiny developer has also taken a different approach at times.

As a result, Guardians are unsure of what changes may be made in future balance patches and have been expressing their concerns on Reddit.

The author highlighted their concerns in a thread, stating, “It’s interesting to witness how PvE players become extremely fearful when something is broken in PvP,”using the example of Titan’s Shoulder Charge ability to demonstrate this inconsistency.

“According to the post, adjustments were made to the damage dealt by Shoulder Charge in order to address any issues, while still maintaining its effectiveness in PvE. However, in response to concerns about mobility in PvP, the decision was made to implement a short cooldown for Shoulder Charge by consuming a small amount of melee energy.”

Speaker’s Sight has proven to be an incredibly strong PvP Exotic for Warlocks

The implementation of using melee energy for Shoulder Charge made it significantly more difficult to sustain in PvE. This change affected the effectiveness of the ability in both PvP and PvE, even though the intention was to only nerf it for PvP. Because of this past experience, players are concerned that the same strategy will be used for the powerful Speaker’s Sight.

“Take a look at the Young Ahamkara Spine, an Exotic that was once dominant in PvP and fairly effective in PvE. However, it was later nerfed to the point of being useless in both modes, leading to a backlash from players. It is clear that players are apprehensive about future nerfs from Bungie, who are known for using a heavy-handed approach rather than a precise one.”

PvP streamer GernaderJake has recently brought attention to the impressive effectiveness of Speaker’s Sight in the Crucible when paired with certain loadouts. He expressed concern that if it is not addressed, Trials of Osiris will become unplayable. Jake made it clear that he does not want any changes to the weapon’s performance in PvE, and any future adjustments should only be made in PvP.
