Destiny 2 Revenant: Major Weapon Crafting Changes Criticized as the “Worst Decision”

Destiny 2 is set to implement significant changes to weapon crafting with the launch of Episode Revenant on October 8, and player reactions have been overwhelmingly negative.

During a livestream on October 1 that previewed the upcoming changes, Bungie revealed that seasonal weapons introduced with Revenant will not be immediately craftable. As a result, Guardians will have to depend on luck to obtain their desired god rolls.

This situation essentially means that players will need more time to discover the perfect weapon rolls. However, Bungie assured fans in a blog post from September 9 that weapon crafting is “not going away.”Instead, the studio plans to use the crafting system as a “catch-up mechanism for rolls you weren’t able to acquire from the original sources.”

Bungie stated, “We want crafting to support the weapon chase, and not replace it.”

Despite this reassurance, community sentiment plummeted following the preview on October 1. One Reddit user expressed frustration, stating, “As someone who doesn’t play this game as a second job, removing crafting is the worst decision they could have made.”

Further clarification in the same thread about the crafting system not being entirely removed did little to alleviate the backlash.

One response lamented, “Still a sh*t decision. I’d rather grind to unlock a gun’s pattern to craft it how I want instead of going through the constant grind for the ‘god roll’ because the latter is mind-numbingly boring.”

Another poster added, “It may as well be removed, though. You’re telling me that I’m going to have to wait until the next expansion to craft weapons from Revenant? That’s crazy.”

Whether this outcry will lead Bungie to reconsider its decision remains uncertain. However, the developer is known for being responsive to player feedback, making it worth watching for any potential updates.
