Destiny 2: Shaking Up Exotic Class Item Drops with New Methods

The developers of Destiny 2 are making changes to the way exotic class items are obtained, such as adding missions like Dual Destiny and increasing the drop rate from Overthrow chests in the Pale Heart.

The conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga in Destiny 2’s Final Shape satisfied players’ desires with the return of a beloved friend, even though it was only for a brief period of time.

The latest expansion also brought about the inclusion of the Prismatic subclass, which combines the abilities of light and dark to effectively defeat powerful enemies. This particular subclass synergizes well with the exotic class items that were also introduced by the developers, as they have the potential to randomly offer two exotic perks from a selection.

Therefore, these desirable class items are in high demand and essential for creating an impeccable prismatic build. Luckily, these hard-to-find gear pieces will now be obtainable more often than previously, providing a much-needed respite for those still searching for their perfect combination.

Exotic class items will be easier to get after the new update.

The developers have revealed a new weekly challenge, Dual Destiny, during the July 26 TWID. Completing this challenge will earn players a guaranteed exotic class item drop, making it a must-add to your weekly routine. It should be noted, though, that subsequent completions will not have this bonus, so proceed with caution.

In a similar manner, Bungie has plans to implement specific modifications to Overthrow chests, which are expected to be implemented in early August. These changes involve boosting the likelihood of receiving exotic class items from Overthrow chests. As you continue to open these chests, your chances of obtaining a drop will gradually increase, with higher-tiered chests providing a greater increase in odds.

Theoretically, this would result in a shorter period of time between obtaining rare items, allowing you to acquire them at a quicker rate.

Bungie has also recognized players’ desire for these exotic class items to be obtainable through activities other than the Pale Heart. They have stated that they will be closely monitoring the aforementioned changes.
