Destiny 2 Solstice Shotgun: The Matador 64 Successor Anyone Can Farm

Destiny 2 Solstice Shotgun: The Matador 64 Successor Anyone Can Farm

The annual Solstice event of Destiny 2 will begin on the weekly reset of August 6, offering players the opportunity to earn various new rewards. One of the most coveted rewards is a Shotgun that is sure to dominate the Crucible.

In addition to the typical decorative armor, all three classes have the opportunity to acquire a few weapons, such as the Compass Rose, which will be available throughout the duration of the event.

Originally introduced during the Season of the Splicer, the revamped perk pool of the returnee makes it highly appealing to players who enjoy Crucible matches. Compass Rose falls under the same Shotgun category as Matador 64, and its 2024 version features the same exceptional perks, solidifying its position in the PvP metagame.

Being an event drop, it will be significantly more convenient to obtain compared to Matador, which cannot be crafted and is only obtainable from Grasp of Avarice. This makes it the ideal choice for Guardians seeking a high-quality Shotgun to use in PvP.

The most advantageous benefits for Compass Rose in PvP are:

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk 1: Slickdraw, Slideshot, or Threat Detector
  • Perk 2: Opening Shot or Snapshot Sights
  • Masterwork: Range

Although Barrel and Magazine choices are already chosen, Guardians still need to determine which perks are most suitable for the first and second perk columns.

While both Slideshot and Slickdraw are excellent choices for Shotguns, they do require some setup and can also decrease Aim Assistance. Therefore, it is important to take these drawbacks into consideration. On the other hand, Threat Detector offers passive buffs without any additional effort, making it an ideal pairing for a close-range weapon like Compass Rose when facing opposing Guardians.

In addition, Compass Rose gains two Origin Trait perks, Dream Work and Nadir Focus. While Nadir Focus is not as useful on Shotguns, Dream Work stands out. Its conditional auto-reload functions similarly to Slideshot, automatically reloading the magazine from reserves.

During Solstice, the method for obtaining Compass Rose will not be revealed until the event begins. However, based on past versions of the celebration, players can expect it to be easily attainable as a reward for participating in the main event activity.

If you have been consistently attempting to obtain a Matador 64 through the Grasp of Avarice grind without success, this alternative method will make the process much less arduous. Alternatively, if you require a Shotgun in the Kinetic slot, Someday may be an even more advantageous option.
