Destiny 2 Warlock Exotic Disabling Due to Game-Breaking Bug That One-Shots The Witness

Bungie has recently taken significant action regarding the Destiny 2 Warlock Exotic, Ballidorse Wrathweavers, which has been disabled following the identification of a serious game-breaking glitch. This bug allowed players to defeat formidable raid bosses in mere seconds, significantly undermining the game’s intended challenges.

Overview of the Bug

Under normal circumstances, Ballidorse Wrathweavers increases the damage taken by frozen enemies by a substantial 100% while the Winter’s Wrath super ability is activated. However, the unintended bug escalated this effect dramatically, making it possible to conquer some of Destiny’s toughest encounters effortlessly, including the highly challenging Witness boss.

Bungie’s Response

In a prompt reaction to this issue, Bungie announced via X (formerly Twitter): “Due to an issue where more damage can be distributed than intended, the Warlock’s Ballidorse Wrathweavers exotic has been disabled until a fix can be implemented.” This represents their latest communication regarding the situation.

How the Bug Was Uncovered

The bug surfaced on November 25, when players observed that the Warlock Exotic was not functioning as designed. Players employing weapons such as Witherhoard or Anarchy to deal sustained damage had their attacks amplified dramatically when targeting an enemy frozen by Winter’s Wrath.

At the height of this malfunction, players not only managed to solo the Witness, but also achieved the remarkable feat of one-shotting the final encounter of the Salvation’s Edge raid by inflicting over 15 million damage in a single attack.

Impact on Gameplay

This extraordinary bug rendered every encounter in the game trivial, as it created an untenable situation where players could inflict vastly excessive damage in one strike, thus nullifying any challenge inherent in the gameplay.

For perspective, this damage output overshadowed a previous glitch known as Craftening that appeared in September 2023, which allowed Guardians to merge craftable weapons into exceptionally powerful tools. While these “Funny Guns” could decimate bosses, their output pales in comparison to the overwhelming power exhibited by Ballidorse Wrathweavers in its faulty state.

Consequences for Players

The disabling of Ballidorse Wrathweavers affects all players, effectively locking out anyone who previously equipped this Exotic. Any attempts to access or use it now return an error message stating, “This item is not currently available. For more information, visit help.bungie.net.”

Expected Timeline for a Fix

As for the timeline of when Ballidorse Wrathweavers will be re-enabled, it is anticipated that this Exotic will remain disabled until December at the earliest. Historically, Bungie has required at least a week or two to rectify issues of this magnitude, meaning players will have to make do without this weapon for the foreseeable future.
