In Destiny 2, the desire to deal higher damage is universal, as DPS plays a crucial role in every boss fight. Fortunately, this straightforward rotation is a convenient tool for Warlock players to achieve this goal.
It is widely known that utilizing the most effective PvE weapons and top-tier Exotics is crucial for maximizing damage output. While popular choices such as Still Hunt and Dragon’s Breath are notable, there is another Exotic that has the greatest potential for a straightforward and efficient rotation.
The Kinetic Shotgun known as Legend of Acrius is an excellent choice for DPS, especially when paired with the Warlock’s Song of Flame ability. According to a demonstration by Duqk on YouTube (link provided), this weapon deals significant damage and can be easily utilized by following this rotation:
- Activate Song of Flame at the start of a damage phase.
- Engage in close combat and execute a Powered Melee attack, triggering Trench Barrel.
- Shoot Legend of Acrius three times, making sure to reload between each shot.
- Continue this process until the Song of Flame effect ends or it becomes too dangerous to remain near the boss. Utilize Phoenix Dive for healing whenever necessary.
This rotation was able to achieve 3.4 million damage in a single phase against the first boss, Phry’zhia The Insatiable, in Grasp of Avarice. It is considered one of the top performing DPS rotations without having to resort to more intricate and error-prone techniques, making it accessible for anyone to execute.
For those seeking a more challenging approach, Duqk suggests a variation that utilizes Mountaintop, Hellion, and Bleak Watcher, resulting in a combined damage output of 4.7 million. He also demonstrated a riskier rotation by replacing Song of Flame with Nova Bomb, resulting in 5.4 million damage and successfully defeating Phry’zhia in a single phase.
The base rotation for this loadout only calls for Legend of Acrius, its Exotic Catalyst, and Song of Flame. To unlock Song of Flame, players must complete The Final Shape’s campaign on a Warlock character. Legend of Acrius can be acquired from the Exotic Archive for the cost of 1 Exotic Cipher, 150,000 Glimmer, and 240 Spoils of War. Once obtained, the shotgun’s catalyst can be obtained as a random drop from Nightfalls.
Gaining Spoils of War can be challenging for casual players since they are only obtained by looting Raid chests. Nevertheless, solo farming is possible in specific chests found in Last Wish and Vow of the Disciple, enabling any player to gradually accumulate Spoils of War.
