Destiny 2 Weapon Frame Dominates Primary Meta with Silly DPS

Recent DPS tests on primary weapons in Destiny 2 have shown that a specific weapon frame significantly outperforms all others in the current meta.

The heavy weapons play a significant role in Destiny 2’s PvE meta, which comes as no surprise considering their importance. Nevertheless, it is equally crucial to utilize the best primary weapons, especially in high-level activities where even minor enemies can prove to be formidable foes.

According to DPS tests conducted by the stats expert MossyMax, it seems that Heavy Burst Pulse Rifles are the most popular primary weapon in The Final Shape. MossyMax has even referred to them as the “new top dog.”

Heavy Burst Pulse Rifles were tested against Gambit-scaled red health bar enemies and produced 497 DPS. This was a 10% improvement compared to any other primary weapon frame, with Adaptive Burst Sidearms coming in second. The next closest non-CQB weapon frame, Lightweight Pulse Rifles, had a significantly weaker DPS of just 415, almost 20% lower.

Corrasion will be the third Heavy Burst Pulse Rifle when it is added later in Episode Echoes.

Regrettably, there are currently only two Heavy Burst Pulse Rifles accessible in Destiny 2: Aisha’s Care from Trials of Osiris and Nullify from Salvation’s Edge. Nevertheless, a new weapon called Corrasion will be introduced as a seasonal craftable option in Episode Echoes, providing an opportunity for casual players to experience the powerful weapon frame.

The community did not overlook the impressive strength of Burst Pulse Rifles, as one Guardian remarked, “It’s quite ridiculous, 2-burst pulses will most likely be balanced with other pulses in the near future.”

Similarly, a different player inquired, “So…are there any circumstances where using scouts would be necessary if you have a reliable 2 burst pulse?”based on data indicating that Scout Rifles may not have the highest damage output.

According to MossyMax’s DPS tests, a comparison was made between the performance of the strongest frame for each primary weapon type against Minors.

  • Pulse Rifle: Heavy Burst (395 RPM) – 497 DPS
  • Sidearm: Adaptive Burst (491 RPM) – 450 DPS
  • Auto Rifle: Support (600 RPM) – 405 DPS
  • Hand Cannon: Precision (180 RPM) – 402 DPS
  • Combat Bow: Lightweight (500 ms) – 382 DPS
  • Scout Rifle: Rapid Fire (260 RPM) – 361 DPS
  • SMG: Lightweight (900 RPM) – 307 DPS

The main points to remember are that Pulse Rifles, Sidearms, Auto Rifles, and Hand Cannons are all effective in PvE. However, Bows and Scout Rifles may not be as powerful, but they can still be useful in situations where caution is more important than sheer damage. Additionally, SMGs are currently struggling and are generally overshadowed by Sidearms.

One thing to remember is that the DPS values stated are based on the assumption of using Legendary weapons and do not consider any perks. Despite a weapon’s frame being a potential weakness, it can still be effective if it has a strong perk pool or a unique Exotic effect.
