Combat Bows are highly effective weapons that excel in end-game activities, and this weekend presents a prime opportunity to acquire one of the top Bows in Destiny 2. Don’t pass up the chance to add it to your arsenal.
The highlighted Nightfall weapon of the week is Pre Astyanax IV, a Solar Bow that was originally introduced in Season 22 and later reissued in The Final Shape.
Despite being largely overlooked by the community, Bungie has implemented significant changes in this new version of Pre Astyanax IV that have elevated it to a whole new level, making it the most versatile Bow in the game.
The left column now includes Shoot To Loot, Archer’s Tempo, and Attrition Orbs, while the right column offers Explosive Head, Incandescent, and Archer’s Gambit. This combination of perks provides a versatile pool that enhances draw time, offers both damage and add clear capabilities. The perfect combination of perks will differ depending on individual use, but all of these options are valuable.
Moreover, they are now capable of being improved, which is particularly crucial for Archer’s Tempo, Attrition Orbs, Incandescent, and Archer’s Gambit. Upgrading these perks results in a noticeable improvement.
Pre Astyanax IV is obtainable as a drop upon completing any Nightfall, with a greater chance of receiving it on higher difficulties. It will continue to be the highlighted Nightfall weapon until the weekly reset on August 13, 2024. After this time, it will not be obtainable for several weeks, so make sure not to miss your opportunity.
Players who have previously obtained Pre Astyanax IV will have the opportunity to aim the Solar Bow at Commander Zavala for x5 Vanguard Engrams and x25,000 Glimmer each. This applies even if you have only received the original version, as the reissued version with the updated perk pool will still be rewarded upon focusing it.
Additionally, completing this week’s GM Nightfall will grant you the improved version of Pre Astyanax IV (Adept), which is equipped with powerful mods such as Adept Draw Time. However, even experienced Guardians with top-tier builds may find it challenging to complete Grandmaster activities.
To ensure that GM attempts are more manageable, it is important to stick to using the top PvE weapons and meta Exotics. These challenging strikes are some of the most difficult content in Destiny 2, so it is not advisable to attempt them with inferior gear.
