Destiny 2’s Xur to Offer Limited Time Guaranteed Exotic Class Items

Destiny 2’s Xur to Offer Limited Time Guaranteed Exotic Class Items

Destiny 2’s Xur vendor has responded to fan backlash about recent drop changes by offering “guaranteed”Exotic Class Items for sale.

On August 6, Bungie released the 8.0.5 update for Destiny 2, which included changes to the drop rates of Exotic class items. These changes caused immediate turmoil within the community.

In response to criticism that the Exotic class item grind in The Final Shape was more exhausting than enjoyable, the team made these adjustments as a by-product of their efforts.

The release of the 8.0.5 patch only added to the already existing complaints from fans, leading to the August 15 This Week in Destiny post announcing that Bungie is actively working on improving the methods for obtaining Exotic Class Items.

The plans for implementing new changes are still in the early stages, indicating that a solution will not be released in the near future. In the meantime, Xur’s store will be updated to include either Exotic Class Items or an Exotic Cipher each week, replacing the Wildcard offer.

Additionally, the usual Ritual Engrams, Exotic Ciphers, and Raid Banner offers of the Wildcard will now be categorized under Strange Offers.

During the first week of the category’s live, starting August 23, players can expect Xur to consistently sell Exotic class items. However, after that initial week, the vendor will likely revert back to his unpredictable RNG methods.

Bungie’s recent announcement also states that Exotic Class Items will be available in Xur’s shop for a price of 41 Strange Coins each, and will have random rolls. However, players must have already completed the Dual Destiny mission and unlocked the standard acquisition path for each character in order to obtain them.

If an Exotic Class Item is unavailable, the Destiny 2 vendor will offer a substitute in the form of an Exotic Cipher. This will be priced at 79 Strange Coins and restricted to one per account.

The announcement from Destiny Tracker regarding Xur’s return has caused mixed reactions among Destiny 2 players on Twitter/X. Many fans are particularly disappointed by the news that Xur will once again be relying on RNG to cycle out items after only one week.

A user expressed their opinion by stating, “I apologize, but I disagree. While it is great that they are now available with Xur, making them randomized after only one week defeats the purpose completely.”

Another person joined the conversation and remarked, “I have to be honest, I’m not pleased with how slowly they are addressing this issue.”

On the other hand, there are some who do not support the Dual Destiny requirement. In fact, one Reddit user expressed their thoughts, stating that while they also enjoy the mission, there should be an alternative method to guarantee a drop aside from playing Dual Destiny. They suggest options such as Overthrow or the Ghost vendor.
