Detailed Overview of Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro Quality and Performance Modes

The highly anticipated Patch 5.0 for Space Marine 2 is set to roll out in the first half of December 2025. This update introduces several exciting features, including the Dark Angels Chapter Pack, the new Operation: Obelisk, and optimized performance for the PS5 Pro. Developers are eager to enhance the gameplay experience, allowing for improved resolution and frame rates across both quality and performance settings.

Exploring Space Marine 2 on PS5 Pro

Similar to the standard PS5, PS5 Pro gamers can choose between two distinct modes while playing Space Marine 2: Quality and Performance.

Mode Resolution Frame Rate
Quality 1080p – 2160p with upscale to 4K 30 FPS
Performance 1080p – 1440p with upscale to 4K 60 FPS

Both modes aim for a 4K resolution output, achieved through upscaling from a base resolution of 1080p. The Quality mode operates at a target of 30 FPS, benefiting from a higher internal resolution that could reach native 4K clarity, resulting in sharper visuals.

In contrast, the Performance mode is designed for those prioritizing a smooth gaming experience, maintaining a minimum internal resolution of 1080p, with enhancements that can reach up to 1440p. This ensures that, even at 60 FPS, players can expect commendable image quality when upscaled to 4K.

When comparing it to the standard PS5, which utilizes FSR, the improvement in internal resolution on the PS5 Pro is noteworthy. The base PS5’s performance could drop to as low as 720p, which was then upscaled to 4K, often resulting in poor image quality. Despite not matching the capabilities of DLSS, the upscaling offered by PSSR is generally superior to FSR in many scenarios.

We eagerly await the chance to experience Space Marine 2 on the PS5 Pro, anticipating that the PSSR implementation will avoid the visual glitches seen in some other third-party titles.

On the PC front, Patch 5.0 also brings significant enhancements, including Frame Generation DLSS and FSR 3 support, which were notably absent at launch. This update is set to significantly enhance performance for users of RTX 4000 series graphics cards and other compatible GPUs utilizing FSR 3.

While a specific release date for Patch 5.0 has yet to be announced, developers confirmed during the November community update that it will arrive sometime within the first half of December 2024.
