Blizzard announced to fans of Diablo 4 that significant changes will be made to the game’s character levels, which will have a major impact on the functionality of all future builds in the action RPG.
During the most recent Campfire Chat on August 29, the team announced a major change to character levels in the upcoming 2.0 PTR update for Diablo 4. This change will take effect with the launch of Season 6.
Typically, levels one through 50 signified the standard progression of a character, during which players could acquire skill points. Subsequently, between levels 50 and 100, Paragon points would gradually be earned by players to be added to their Paragon Board.
The maximum level for your character has been increased to 60. From levels 50-60, you will now receive an additional 10 skill points. While players can still reach level 100, they will no longer earn skill points beyond level 60.
As for the Paragon points, they will be distributed among levels one to 100. These Paragon levels will now be completely independent of your character’s advancement, a departure from the previous Seasons where they were linked.
The upcoming update for Diablo 4 is a significant one, as character progression has remained unchanged since the game’s launch a year ago.
Many astute fans predicted a level cap increase was on the horizon after seeing a screenshot from Vessel of Hatred that hinted at this update. Their predictions proved to be accurate.
Just think about the immense increase in strength that all builds will experience with an additional 10 skill points at their disposal. These points could be allocated towards enhancing passive skills, or you may choose to invest them in further upgrading your active skills.
Furthermore, it amplifies the significance of the Paragon Board. According to Aislyn Hall, the system designer for Diablo 4, there will be a division between character and paragon levels from one to 100, implying that Paragon points may be obtainable before reaching level 50.
We will have to patiently await the release of the PTR for 2.0 and the Vessel of Hatred DLC in October to see how skill and Paragon points will affect character progression, as fans get their hands on it.
