The team behind Diablo 4 has expressed their willingness to investigate further system changes, similar to the upcoming rework of itemization, according to a developer.
The upcoming fourth season of Diablo 4, titled Loot Reborn, is set to launch on May 14 and will introduce a significant revamp to the game’s itemization system. The modifications will completely transform the way loot works, incorporating the new Tempering crafting system, updates to the Codex of Power, and other features.
While players eagerly anticipate the release of Season 4, the team at Blizzard is already planning for the future. Surprisingly, they are considering revamping other game systems with similar changes to itemization.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, Tim Ismay, the Lead Producer of the ARPG, discussed the possibility of implementing additional system reworks. Although he could not confirm any specific changes, Ismay expressed the team’s willingness to revamp various aspects of the Diablo 4 experience.
“We are currently engaged in discussions, and possibly even working on, implementing further systems in the game in the future. Our goal is to enhance the overall experience and bring it up to the level of Season 4, which has seen significant improvements in itemization. We are also open to reevaluating other aspects of the game in a similar manner.”
The scale of Diablo 4’s itemization overhaul was so immense that Blizzard determined it was imperative to hold the game’s inaugural Public Test Realm.
Without additional information, it is uncertain which other game systems the studio plans to revisit. However, enduring player grievances regarding the skill tree’s limited adaptability may indicate that this system is next in queue for a significant overhaul.
The launch date for Diablo 4 Season 4 is Tuesday, May 14, and it will be available on all platforms.
