Diablo 4 Developers Respond to Frustrating Greater Affix Bug Ruining Infernal Hordes

In Diablo 4 Season 5, a new endgame mode called Infernal Hordes was introduced. One of its main attractions is the ability for players to obtain a chest with a guaranteed Greater Affix if they successfully complete it on a higher World Tier.

Despite player reports over the past few days, none of the items obtained from these chests have been found to contain Greater Affixes.

On X, Community Lead Adam Fletcher acknowledged that a solution is in progress. However, this statement did little to alleviate the frustration of players, as this is just one of many bugs they have encountered since the launch of Season 5.

“According to one player on the thread, it is unacceptable that there were no staff prepared for hotfixes during the launch of the new season. They pointed out issues such as the Pit being completely broken and not dropping masterworking materials as evidence of this failure.”

Fletcher clarified that the Greater Affix bug appeared after an older patch was released on August 8. However, as Masterworking materials can also be obtained from other sources, their current priority is addressing the Greater Affix bug.

“According to Fletcher’s post, the GA issue occurred after the implementation of other hotfixes, possibly due to a knock-on effect. Despite this, the availability of Masterworking materials in Infernal Hordes means that the impact of runeshards is not as significant.”

Despite receiving some positive feedback from players, the new season has also been one of the most bug-ridden yet.

The issue of Poison being overpowered has long been a struggle for players, and the lack of Masterworking Materials dropping in the Pit is not the only challenge they are currently facing. In addition, bosses currently have inflated HP, adding to the difficulty.

Despite the disappointment of not receiving materials and the presence of the Greater Affix bug, Season 5 is beginning to diminish the enjoyment for fans.

Despite being a success among players, Infernal Hordes also heavily relies on the Pit for endgame content. As such, players are eagerly anticipating fixes for the current issues. Thankfully, it appears that the developers are actively addressing these concerns, so fans must exercise patience as they await the upcoming patches.
