Diablo 4 Development Team Assures Fans that Season 5 Activity Will Remain

A Diablo 4 developer has promised fans that the Infernal Hordes mode will not be restricted to only Season 5.

At the beginning of D4 Season 5, Blizzard unveiled Infernal Hordes as a fresh wave-based activity. Despite facing initial problems such as malfunctioning reward chests, Infernal Hordes has rapidly gained popularity among fans.

Players of Diablo 4 have the option to participate in the mode individually or with companions in World Tier III once they have completed the seasonal questline. Throughout the progressively challenging rounds, players can choose boons and banes that will either aid or hinder them in the following rounds.

Ever since its introduction, the mode has garnered a strong following and many fans consider it to be the highlight of Diablo 4. This has led to speculation about its longevity, with some questioning if Infernal Hordes will only be available for the duration of Season 5.

Blizzard has already confirmed its intention to maintain the mode for the foreseeable future.

Despite concerns expressed by some members of the user base, Community Manager Adam Fletcher reassured players that Infernal Hordes will continue to be a permanent feature in Diablo 4, even after the conclusion of Season 5.

The developer of Diablo 4 clarified in a post on Twitter/X (https://x.com/PezRadar/status/1825110223725437414) that the feature of Infernal Hordes will be present in future seasons and is a permanent aspect of the game.

The initial confusion probably arose from Blizzard’s past practice of introducing modes at the beginning of a season and then removing them later. An example of this is the Abattoir of Zir, which was added and then removed during Season 2.

Despite its current absence, Abattoir of Zir is not gone forever. In late 2023, Fletcher announced that the dungeon would make a comeback in a future patch, promising “better rewards”for players. However, as of now, Blizzard has not yet revealed any further details about these plans.

At the minimum, fans can be reassured that Infernal Hordes will remain a permanent fixture. If the mode had been a temporary addition, it would not have been able to survive for long as Season 5 has been the shortest season so far. The shorter duration is because Season 6 will be released alongside Vessel of Hatred on October 8.
