Diablo 4 Experiencing Frequent PC Crashes After Recent Update

Diablo 4 has recently encountered an issue with frequent crashing on PC, following the launch of its latest patch. In response, Blizzard is actively working towards a resolution.

The patch, designated 2.0.4, was released on October 29, 2024, featuring numerous adjustments aimed at the Vessel of Hatred and various core game elements. It also included enhancements for the newly introduced Spiritborn class, Mercenaries, and the Kurast Undercity.

However, as has been the case with previous updates, this new patch has led to some unintended glitches. PC players are reporting ongoing system crashes that began right after the update was deployed.

One concerned player, sharing their experience on Reddit, noted, Hordsak, “I used to enjoy uninterrupted gameplay, but now I can’t last even 2 minutes without a crash.” This sentiment has been echoed by many others, who have linked their difficulties directly to the 2.0.4 update.

The recurrent crashing issues pose a significant hurdle for PC gamers eager to engage with Diablo 4 post-update. One user reported, “I spent around 5 minutes playing before the game crashed twice.” Another chimed in, stating, “It’s totally unplayable. I crashed immediately when I encountered my first mob.”

Fortunately, Blizzard is aware of the ongoing issues. Adam Fletcher, the Global Community Director for Diablo 4, communicated via X about the situation, assuring players that they are diligently working on a solution.

In addition to his update, Fletcher mentioned a possible workaround, while Blizzard investigates the matter further. However, feedback from users suggests that this fix may not be consistently effective.

In discussions on Reddit about the crashing problem, users have recommended disabling NVIDIA’s DLSS as a potential solution, with some reporting success with this approach. “I turned off DLSS, and it stopped the crashes for me,” one player suggested. Another added, “This also worked for me—after disabling DLSS, I have not experienced any crashes.”

As players await a more definitive fix from Blizzard for the crashing troubles in Diablo 4, trying these temporary measures might be worth considering.
