Diablo 4 Players’ Call for Major Overhaul to Boring Strongholds

Strongholds in Diablo 4 were previously a convenient method for farming XP while power leveling, but without any significant updates, players now view them as a tedious task every time they start a new character on the Seasonal Realm.

While journeying through Sanctuary in Diablo 4, you will encounter 12 unique Strongholds. These regions are home to minibosses that, once defeated, grant access to new towns where you can find various merchants and vendors.

Although certain side-quests in the game are linked to some of these Strongholds, the majority of them are not related to the seasonal storyline or the campaign in any way.

According to H4DDAD’s post on Reddit, the Diablo 4 Strongholds lack excitement and should not be a mandatory task for players to complete multiple times while leveling an alternate character in a season.

After a few seasons in, I finally refuse to redo strongholds. They are boring now, remove them for repeated season players pls 🙏🏼 byu/H4DDAD indiablo4

A player suggested adding that “They do not offer any challenge or meaningful reward, making them more of a chore. It would be better to either rework them to be available once per season or once per account, or turn them into repeatable endgame content.”

Although defeating the boss and interacting with the Wanderer’s Shrine in Diablo 4 typically prevents players from repeating Strongholds, there is a loophole that can be exploited in order to continuously farm this activity.

To repeat this activity, simply defeat all the monsters that appear inside and then log out without activating the Wanderer’s Shrine. Upon logging back in, you will be able to participate in this activity once more.

Another participant shared the same sentiment as the original post, stating, “I believe they should revamp them in a way that makes them an exciting aspect of the final stage of the game.”A third individual chimed in, saying, “As long as they provide a satisfactory amount of XP, loot, or materials, I would be willing to complete them every time.”

Despite some players enjoying the unique gameplay aspect of Strongholds in Diablo 4, many believe that these activities require a significant overhaul and should be integrated into the endgame content due to their potential.

As Blizzard introduces additional Strongholds and a fresh region in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, they may consider incorporating community feedback and implementing necessary modifications to ensure that the activity remains a compelling form of endgame content.
