Diablo 4 players are requesting a change from Blizzard that will improve the quality of the game by fixing the repetitive nature of the waypoint system.
Season 5 of Diablo 4 is currently in full swing, and it has been met with a variety of reactions from players. Building upon the major changes to itemization introduced in Season 4, the developers have also implemented Infernal Hordes, which have quickly become the go-to endgame challenge for the warriors of Sanctuary.
However, the excitement has been dampened by initial bugs and performance problems, as well as some missteps with the supplementary Mother’s Blessing event. While the new additions to the season are causing some frustration, lingering issues with the implementation of Diablo 4’s seasonal content are still grinding the gears.
A concern was brought up by BusinessCommunity813 on Reddit about the reset of fast travel points in Diablo 4 for each new character. Several players in the discussion share the sentiment that constantly having to unlock waypoints has become a tedious task.

As the fifth major content update for the game is released, Diablo 4 players have become accustomed to the practice of creating a new character for each season. While this adds to the game’s replayability by allowing players to experiment with different builds and tools, there have been disagreements between Blizzard and players regarding what should transfer to new characters.
In their post, BusinessCommunity813 stated that it would be greatly beneficial for waypoints to be unlocked automatically as a quality-of-life enhancement. Currently, each new character in Diablo 4 is required to manually visit all previously accessed fast travel points in Sanctuary.
The specific content needed to properly hone your build requires completing some non-optional busy work, which has left players feeling frustrated. As one user agreed, continuously running around to acquire waypoints is not an enjoyable task.
“I completely agree. It is only fair that players who have completed the campaign or have previously unlocked them outside of the campaign should have waypoints unlocked. These waypoints are essential for progressing through the campaign and it is unfair for those who have not played the campaign.”
Waypoints are tied up in Diablo 4’s Renown grind which could present some issues.
At the start of a new season, players often find the repetitive task of collecting waypoints to be frustrating, especially when they are eager to dive into the new content created by Blizzard. Some players are asking for a quality-of-life improvement to alleviate some of the monotony, but it remains uncertain if the developers will take their suggestions into consideration.
