Diablo 4 Players Fed Up with Inconvenient Traversal Mechanic

Diablo 4 gamers are furious about a traversal feature that requires them to dismount and physically interact with ladders, doors, and ropes.

In Sanctuary, players embark on a journey through dungeons and the open world, which is filled with multi-layered environments. This allows players to venture into both higher and deeper regions.

Features such as fast travel and mounts make it easier to move around quickly, but some obstacles may still require you to dismount, interact with them, and then remount once the cooldown period has ended.

The Diablo 4 subreddit was filled with grievances regarding this troublesome mechanic. One player expressed their dislike, stating, “I am not fond of these obstacles as they disrupt my gameplay. I am forced to dismount my steed and it interrupts my momentum.”

When viewing the map shared by this Redditor, players must dismount for each arrow and interact with the corresponding object, such as a ladder, rope, or door, before remounting. This process is not a smooth one, to say the least.

The response to the thread varied from annoyance to cynicism. A player complained, “The most difficult adversary for a LS sorc in a level 100 NMD is definitely all the damn doors that need to be opened.”

One person reflected, “I imagine the wall of death and destruction my character unleashes while walking would likely break down a few doors. They must have had excellent construction in the past.”

One player, however, had conflicting thoughts, stating, “I appreciate the depth of field they offer, but I dislike having to manually manipulate them.”

While navigating a map with layers, multi-level dungeons, and climbable fields is undoubtedly exciting, constantly having to dismount in order to advance can be quite inconvenient.

It can be particularly frustrating when you have a time-restricted boost from a Shrine and wind up wasting half of it struggling with a rope.

Blizzard is constantly improving Diablo 4, as seen with the recent introduction of Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred in October. These updates promised to bring about various adjustments to the paragon and difficulty system. Additionally, the studio responded to player feedback and balanced loot drops in the game after reports of players feeling overwhelmed by excessive loot showers.
