Diablo 4: Renown Explained for Season 4

Diablo 4: Renown Explained for Season 4

Renown is a feature in Diablo 4 that enables players to enhance their character through a rewards system. This is how Renown operates during Season 4 in Diablo 4.

In Diablo 4, players can earn points through the Renown system by venturing into each of Sanctuary’s five zones: Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, and Hawezar. By completing tasks and missions in these areas, players can accumulate points and unlock rewards for their character, ultimately increasing their power.

To gain the most renown in Diablo 4 Season 4, players can simply progress through the game‘s main story, complete side quests, and participate in various activities such as exploring uncharted areas. Below is a breakdown of how much renown can be earned for completing certain tasks.

How to Increase Your Renown in Diablo 4

There are six different activities that can be completed to earn Renown. While discovering an area is worth only 5 Renown as a more passive action, clearing a side dungeon is worth a higher amount at 30 Renown.

Strongholds in the region are significantly more valuable in terms of Renown points compared to other types of dungeons. This is because they are populated with tougher and more powerful enemies.

Renown value
Areas discovered 5 Renown
Altars of Lilith 10 Renown
Waypoints 20 Renown

Strongholds 100 Renown

Every region contains unique areas, waypoints, and altars waiting to be uncovered, along with additional side quests, optional dungeons, and Strongholds to conquer.

Each region has three Strongholds, making it the only exception to the rule of varying numbers of activities in each zone.

Renown and Diablo 4 Season 2

Indeed, the Diablo Renown rewards apply to all characters on an account. This signifies that after a player achieves the highest level of Renown on a specific character, including non-seasonal ones, all rewards will be immediately accessible for any subsequent characters. While certain Renown-based rewards may require completion for each character, the most significant ones, like the additional 10 levels, only need to be unlocked once.

As an illustration, if you have previously unlocked the map and discovered all the Altars of Lilith during a previous season, this Renown will still be retained in Season 4. Additionally, players who have already finished the campaign will have the ability to bypass it and retain any Renown gained from a previous playthrough.

Starting a new seasonal character will transfer the Renown and any rewards you earned from your previous character. For instance, if you completed the Renown challenges and unlocked 10 extra level-ups on your main character, your new seasonal character will also have access to those 10 levels.

Blizzard has also implemented a system that benefits Hardcore characters. If a player unlocks any Renown rewards and unfortunately loses their character, all earned Renown will be retained and transferred to the next character.
