The fourth hotfix for Diablo 4 Season 5 is now live and the August 15 update has successfully addressed one of the most troublesome damage over time bugs.
The current season of Diablo 4, Season 5, is fully underway and has been met with mostly positive reactions from players. One standout addition is the wave-based endgame challenge, Infernal Hordes, which has completely overshadowed the previous season’s Artificer’s Pit.
Despite its shortcomings, the new season has not been without its flaws, leading some players to dub it the “Season of Infernal Bugs”. Problems with Uber Lilith’s drops and loot disappearing have affected the reputation of Season 5.
Thankfully, a new update has been released by Blizzard, which addresses a particularly frustrating bug. Although it doesn’t solve all issues, it does improve the game experience. The patch notes for Diablo 4 Season 5 Hotfix 4 can be found below.

Game Updates
One aspect of Splintering Energy is as follows:
- The damage has been raised from 25-50% to 50-80%.
- The frequency at which Splintering Energy arcs to additional enemies will be reduced.
Please note that the tooltip descriptors for this will be updated in a future release.
Bug Fixes
- An issue where Damage over Time effects would continue after the player died and revived has been resolved.
- Several enhancements to stability were made.
The problem of damage over time (DOT) effects has persisted in Diablo 4 since its launch, causing frustration among players. Therefore, the upcoming fix for the carryover of post-death effects should be well-received.
Some players have also reported problems with the way enemies’ damage-over-time (DOT) abilities scale, particularly when facing poison and fire effects. It is yet to be seen if the latest fix will improve the experience of battling against these types of enemies.
