Diablo 4 Tournament mode saved by devs after major bug

The Diablo 4 developers addressed the bug that began affecting Tournament leaderboards shortly after launch.

Shortly after the Tournament went live, Diablo 4 players discovered an exploit that allowed them to get a head start on the Tournament without actually entering it.

As a result, those who took advantage of this bug were able to achieve high scores on the mode’s leaderboards with minimal effort.

Diablo content creator, Rob2628, exposed the bug in a recent Twitch stream. It didn’t take long for Blizzard to respond after this discovery became news.

Diablo 4 developers quickly fix devastating Tournament bug

On March 12, Diablo 4 Community Director Adam Fletcher responded to a Reddit post that brought attention to the glitch. Via his PezRadar account, Fletcher informed players that Blizzard has a “fix for this early start of the Tournament which will arrive in Week 2.”

Fletcher further revealed that cheaters who used the Tournament exploit will no longer appear in the leaderboard rankings. He wrote: “We have also confirmed that anyone who uses this method to generate a score does not appear in the leaderboards anyway.”

Hopefully the Diablo 4 team’s quick action to address this Tournament bug will greatly improve the leaderboards experience. Additionally, the fix should ease the concerns of players who were worried it would ruin the mode.

The start of the Tournament was not the best, however. Shortly after its release, some community members quickly labeled it as another disappointing addition to endgame content. So we’ll see how the mode fares over time.

The Diablo 4 community can also expect more seasonal content in the coming weeks. Indeed, Season 3 is on track to conclude on April 16, 2024.
