Diablo 4’s inaugural expansion, titled the Vessel of Hatred, is set to launch on October 7 alongside the Season 6 update, transporting players to the Nahantu Region and introducing an exciting new narrative.
In addition to this fresh locale, players can look forward to the introduction of the Spiritborn class, new Mercenaries, the Realmwalker event, explorations of the Kurast Undercity dungeon, and the Dark Citadel activities.

Below are the initially planned release times for the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion. Unfortunately, Blizzard has communicated that there will be a “minor delay” due to unexpected issues with the build.

Adam Fletcher, Diablo 4’s Global Director of Community, has yet to provide specifics on the new launch time. In response to community inquiries, he suggested it would likely be “a couple of hours at most.”
We’ll keep this guide updated with the revised timings once Blizzard provides further information. It’s important to note that this delay also affects the launch of Diablo 4 Season 6.
Both the Vessel of Hatred expansion and Season 6, titled Season of Hatred Rising, will launch simultaneously. While the expansion must be purchased, all players will have access to Season 6’s content when it goes live.
Pre-loading Times for Vessel of Hatred
Players on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation can pre-load the Vessel of Hatred expansion and the Season 6 update. If you’re using Battle.net, pre-loading is available now; however, Steam users will need to wait until it officially launches on October 7.

On PC, the Vessel of Hatred update will take up approximately 40 GB if High-Resolution Assets are enabled; if disabled, the size reduces to around 25 GB.
While console pre-loading is currently unavailable, the size is expected to be similar.
Essential Steps Upon Launch
Once Vessel of Hatred and Season 6 are available, your first task should be to ensure that you’ve finished the campaign. Although you technically only need to complete the prologue of the main campaign, acquiring a mount before venturing into Nahantu is highly recommended.
Once you are ready, look for the Vessel of Hatred campaign in your quest log, which is where your new adventure in the unexplored region will commence.
