Blizzard announced several changes to the Paragon system during the Diablo 4 2.0 PTR update’s Campfire Chat.
Update 2.0, arriving on October 8 alongside Season 6 and the Vessel of Hatred DLC, will not only raise the level cap but also bring changes to the difficulty levels and itemization.
One notable change that was announced involves the Paragon Board and Paragon Points system. By the time October arrives, these updates may make the system appear completely unrecognizable to you.
Paragon Level Updates
Since the 2.0 update, the way the Paragon levels system works will be slightly altered due to the increase in the level cap for earning skill points from level 50 to 60.
In the past, players would begin to accrue a small amount of Paragon Points for every level gained after reaching level 50. However, with the new update, levels 1-100 will be divided into both character levels and Paragon levels.
Eagle-eyed fans who captured a screenshot from Vessel of Hatred had already spotted the change, which revealed that the Paragon levels now begin at level 60 instead of level 50.
There has been a significant adjustment in the amount of Paragon Points that players can obtain. The maximum limit of points that can be earned has been raised from 200 to 300 (excluding points earned through Renown).
Glyph updates
For the 2.0 update, the Glyphs available for players to slot into their Paragon Boards have been revamped. Below is a compilation of all the significant changes that will be introduced to Glyphs in Season 6.
- Glyph maximum rank significantly increased from level 21-100
- All Glyphs start as Rare at rank one
- Glpyhs go from Rare to Legendary at rank 46
- At Legendary, Glyph unlocks a huge multiplicative stat bonus
- Glyph radius increases on rank 15 and 46
- Players can level up Glyphs at the Pit instead of Nightmare Dungeons
- Guaranteed success on rank upgrade if 10 Pit tier difference or more
- Bonus ranks if 20 PIt tier difference or more
The primary changes involving Glyphs involve the increase in rank and the method of obtaining them. Glyphs can now reach a maximum rank of 100 and will no longer be found in Nightmare Dungeons, but will instead be found in the Pit.
The recently appearing Glyphs in the Pit align with the significant adjustments to the Pit tier advancement. The Pit tiers will increase by increments of five until reaching the Penitent difficulty, after which it will jump by 15 for Torment 1-4 and ultimately reach 65 for Torment IV.
Paragon Realm Updates
There are significant changes being made to the Paragon system in relation to Realms. Now, Paragon Points are shared throughout an entire Realm, allowing them to carry over between both Seasonal and Eternal Realms.
It is important for players to understand that Paragon points are only accessible on a character that has reached level 60. This means that once a character reaches level 60, all Paragon Points earned on other characters within the same Realm will also become available.
Paragon Board Updates
The function of Paragon Boards in the 2.0 update has been altered. In Diablo 4, players will now only be able to equip a maximum of five Paragon Boards, including the starter board. This is a significant departure from previous seasons, where players were able to have up to seven boards active at once.
The developers advised that the most effective approach for boards is to acquire as many Glyph slots as feasible instead of being selective with your Glyph slots as previously.
Additionally, each class will be provided with a completely new board in addition to the significant progression updates. Blizzard has taken into consideration these updates when designing each board.
