Diablo 4’s Upcoming Update to Include Highly Anticipated Social Feature: Vessel of Hatred

During Gamescom 2024, it was revealed that development for Diablo 4’s highly anticipated party finder feature is finally underway.

Ever since its release in June 2023, players of Diablo 4 have been requesting the inclusion of a group finder feature. This was mainly due to the game’s lack of endgame content at launch.

At the same time, there were some individuals who simply wanted to join other Wanderers in playing, but this desire was made difficult by the game’s restricted social features.

Fans can now celebrate with the understanding that the developers at Blizzard have been actively paying attention. During a breakdown of the Vessel of Hatred expansion at Gamescom, Lead Game Designer Rex Dickson confirmed that the co-op PvE dungeon, The Dark Citadel, will cater to two players, although it was designed with a group of four players in mind.

Consequently, Blizzard has announced plans to implement a party finder feature in Diablo 4, allowing players to easily team up and engage in various activities throughout Sanctuary. This will provide opportunities for both friends and random players to join forces and conquer challenges together.

According to the Diablo 4 lead, the community has been expressing their desire for this addition for a considerable amount of time. Therefore, it was a logical decision for us to incorporate it into the new Citadel mode.

The map, in-game menu, and emote wheel will provide access to this social feature. Alternatively, players can also access it through preset options.

The conversation about Diablo 4’s upcoming party finder system starts around the 7:03 timestamp in the video above.

Furthermore, aside from revealing the highly anticipated social aspect, Blizzard’s presence at Gamescom has also included a preview of their newest addition: Mercenary companions.

The Mercenary feature was initially introduced in Diablo 2 and will function similarly to Diablo 3’s Follower system, enabling players to enlist additional assistance while traversing the Vessel of Hatred DLC.

Additionally, players can anticipate the arrival of the Kurast Undercity, another new mode. This multi-layered dungeon will offer players the opportunity to have a say in the challenges and rewards that await them, in addition to the previously mentioned Citadel experience.
