Did Jessi Mislead? Family of Assault Victim Expresses Anger Over Rapper’s ‘Insincere’ Apology

An 18-year-old admirer of Jessi, who faced an assault from an acquaintance, shared his experience during a live broadcast. He expressed doubt regarding the authenticity of the rapper’s apology.

Recently, it was revealed that Jessi’s group was implicated in an attack that occurred on September 29th.

Footage from CCTV in Apgujeong-dong, located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, shows the minor, referred to as victim A, approaching the rapper for a photo. After Jessi declined his request on two occasions, one of the individuals accompanying her suddenly assaulted the student.

Jessi initially attempted to intervene but ultimately departed the location without taking further action. The incident was subsequently reported to the authorities by the victim.

In her official statement, Jessi apologized, explaining that she had only just met the assailant prior to the incident and left because she felt overwhelmed. She assured supporters that she was cooperating with law enforcement to locate the already-fled perpetrator.

On October 14, victim A’s family appeared on JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor“, where the victim’s mother conveyed her discontent with Jessi’s statement, saying:

“After viewing the apology, it seemed like she offered justifications and mentioned that ‘they weren’t with me’ and ‘(the perpetrator) suddenly appeared.’ This is illogical, as my child saw them together.”

The victim elaborated further:

“The way ‘moral responsibility’ was phrased in her apology suggested to me that Jessi didn’t actually write it; it felt insincere.”

During the same broadcast, the victim and his mother speculated that the assailant may be affiliated with a gang based in Los Angeles, noting that ‘A’ observed significant tattoos labeled “K”and “OS,”which could stand for Korean Outlaws.

The suspect, known by the stage name Koala, is alleged to be a rapper and producer who previously collaborated with Jessi on her tracks “Nunu Nana”and “What Type of X.”

In light of these allegations, Jessi’s agency issued a brief statement:

“Koala has partnered with Jessi on various music projects… however, Jessi is not associated with gangs and is unaware of any gang involvement from Koala.”

The police have indicated that four of the suspect’s accomplices have already been summoned for questioning and are also contemplating inviting Jessi and her associates for interviews.
