According to BLINKs, BLACKPINK member Rosé’s recent statement on Instagram was seen as a subtle criticism towards YG Entertainment.
On June 18, 2024, Rosé announced on Instagram that she had officially signed with THEBLACKLABEL as her music management company, sharing a detailed statement with her fans.
In her statement, Rosé expressed her gratitude for the patience of fans who were eagerly awaiting news about her future activities as a member of BLACKPINK. She explained that she took her time to ensure that all plans were finalized before making any announcements. Furthermore, she stated that she dislikes making promises before they are certain to be fulfilled.
Rosé shared that she has been spending most of her days in the studio since the end of 2023 and throughout 2024, dedicated to creating new music. She has been actively figuring out her future goals and developing a vision for the type of artist she aspires to be. She also announced that her activities will now be managed by THEBLACKLABEL, who will support her in pursuing her dreams.
The female idol teased upcoming projects and revealed that there will be thrilling updates in the near future. She eagerly encourages fans to look forward to her upcoming music. However, one particular comment in her statement caught the attention of many, leading to speculation that Rosé was throwing shade at her former agency, YG Entertainment.
In her statement, she mentioned, “As you all know, I come from a background where I have received more assistance than I have had to rely on my own abilities.”This was interpreted by many as a slight criticism towards her former company and its tendency to micromanage.

Despite multiple accusations from BLINKs in the past, YG Entertainment has continuously faced criticism for preventing potential projects and collaborations for BLACKPINK members. An instance that stands out is when Gallant openly mentioned on Rosé’s Instagram post in 2020 that he had shared a song with her.
During a live stream, there were numerous inquiries about the status of the collaboration, to which Gallant disclosed that Rosé had indeed responded to him. However, he mentioned that he has not had positive experiences working with companies representing artists, causing speculation that YG Entertainment may have intervened in the collaboration.

Despite being with YG Entertainment, Rosé only released one solo album and BLACKPINK often had long gaps between group comebacks. This is believed to be due to the company’s actions rather than the members. It seems that the members were equally frustrated with this situation, prompting Rosé to speak out on Instagram.
There is much joy among fans as Rosé is now able to freely express herself after parting ways with YG Entertainment. They are delighted that she has joined THEBLACKLABEL, which will allow her to create the music she desires. The anticipation for the idol’s upcoming music is high among many.
