Following the unexpected developments in Episode 9, aptly titled ‘Escape From Planet Klongo’, it seems we might have uncovered the culprit, so tread carefully as we dive into SPOILERS…
Who is the killer in Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building?
As revealed at the end of Episode 9 of Only Murders in the Building Season 4, the evidence strongly points to Marshall P. Pope as the murderer.
This penultimate episode introduces a new conundrum involving a stunt performer mentored by Sazz two years prior, before a tragic fire led them down a separate trajectory.
Through a series of flashbacks, we glimpse their relationship, yet the identity of her protege remains hidden. At the conclusion of the episode, filmmaker Ron Howard appears as himself and discloses that the stunt performer had his eyebrows singed off. He then provides Charles and Oliver with a photo of this individual, who bears a striking resemblance to Marshall Pope.
Marshall is the screenwriter behind the Only Murders in the Building film that has been central to Season 4’s narrative, appearing throughout the season while often questioning his own abilities.
Motive behind Sazz Pataki’s murder
This indicates that Marshall may have pilfered the screenplay, falsely claiming ownership of her work, which gives him both the motive and opportunity to eliminate Pataki.
Additionally, we see Pope attempting to silence Glen Stubbins (portrayed by Paul Rudd) while he recovers in the hospital, as Glen could potentially expose him regarding the crime.
So it appears that Marshall P. Pope could indeed be the Season 4 murderer. However, being a show titled Only Murders in the Building, we can expect further surprises and possibly even shocking revelations as the story unfolds.
We’ll discover how the mysteries unravel in the finale of Only Murders in the Building next week.
