Did You Know? Chungha Was Referenced in a Hit Drama

During an interview, THIS actress disclosed that she used K-pop soloist Chungha as a reference for portraying the lead character in this popular drama.

On May 10, the BIGBANG member-led YouTube channel, “ZIP DAESUNG,”released a new episode featuring top-tier second-generation idols CNBLUE’s Jungshin and former MBLAQ member Lee Joon. Actress Lee Yubi made a special appearance as a guest.

While on the broadcast, the three K-pop idols fondly recalled their enjoyable moments as K-pop idols, discussing topics such as their dating experiences and the current status of their fellow group members.

During the discussion of their music broadcasting experiences, they inquired with Lee Yubi, a graduate from the vocal music department, if she had ever thought about pursuing a career as a singer.

The complete actress then replied:

“I received an offer when I was young, but as I got older, no one made such an offer.”

Despite this, Lee Yubi, who possesses idol-like facial features and a fit physique, has previously portrayed a K-pop idol and her most renowned role to date was that of Han Mone, one of the lead characters in the drama “The Escape of the Seven.”

She conveyed her experience of portraying an idol role, stating:

“That’s why it was so fun to become Han Mone because she plays an idol and there are a few dancing and stage scenes, so I thought it would be really fun.”

Yubi confirmed that she used Chungha, a former member of I.O.I who is now a solo artist, as a reference to portray Mone when asked.

She clarified the reason by saying:

“Yes, there is. I referred to Chungha. Chungha’s dance goes well with Mone and she’s good at singing, too. Her facial expression, dance and use of her hand gestures go well together.

So in the scene where Mone does idol auditions, I told them that I wanted to do Chungha’s song, ‘Rollercoaster.”

Following that, Daesung made a comment:

“It filled up those needs.”

Lee Yubi expressed her admiration for idols by saying, “With this…”

“It did. I think singers are amazing.”

Similarly, as the conversation about becoming K-pop idols progressed, the other guests reminisced about their own journeys to becoming K-pop idols. Lee Joon also chimed in, sharing an anecdote about the moment that sparked his desire to pursue this career.

He spoke:

“When you’re young, you’re curious about everything. I had one of those times once. When BB guns were all the rage. Everybody was playing with them and one time, a BB went into my eye, it was bleeding, and it was all red. I couldn’t see anything.

At the time, for about a month, you can’t walk because of the pressure. I had to wear a blindfold and lay in bed all day. Because I got a visual impairment, all I could do was listen to the radio, H.O.T, Fin. K.L., Sechs Kies. Even just listening to the music, I became a fan. I opened my eyes, and there they were. They looked so cool. That’s when I started dancing.”
