Differences Between Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Current and Last-Gen Versions

It’s easy to overlook, but there are two notable differences between Black Ops 6 on current-gen and last-gen consoles.

Back in 2015, Black Ops III was the last Call of Duty title available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Activision allowed fans three years to upgrade to the newer console generation before discontinuing support and focusing solely on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In contrast, it’s been four years since Black Ops Cold War debuted on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, instead of a three-year upgrade window, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will still have the opportunity to buy Black Ops 6 for last-gen consoles at its launch on October 25.

Due to the older consoles being several years behind in technology, there are some key features that will not be found in the last-gen versions of BO6.

What are the differences between Black Ops 6 on current-gen & last-gen?

CharlieIntel confirmed the two primary differences between current and last-gen consoles.

Theater Mode is not available on last-gen consoles.
There is no Split-Screen support on last-gen for any game mode.

This marks the first time a Call of Duty title has featured Theater Mode since Black Ops Cold War in 2020. The mode allows players to record clips and upload them online. Theater Mode was subsequently enhanced to enable players to review their Zombies and Blackout matches.

Since Theater Mode wasn’t included in the beta, and with Treyarch remaining reserved about its functionality, the specifics of how this feature will operate in BO6 are still unclear.

Additionally, while split-screen has become a rarity in many first-person shooter franchises, current-gen gamers will still have access to it in select BO6 modes.

Unfortunately, last-gen players will not enjoy this feature, as they will need to play online with friends.
