Disappointment Grows Over Leaked Overwatch 2 Avatar Collaboration

A recent leak regarding the anticipated Avatar collaboration for Overwatch 2 has sent ripples of disappointment through the gaming community. The first image of the crossover skins has appeared, but player reactions indicate a lack of enthusiasm for what’s set to come.

As Season 14 approaches, bringing with it the new tank hero Hazard, the developers have begun teasing the upcoming content. Among the highlights is the much-anticipated Mythic Thorn Reinhardt skin, coupled with an unexpected collaboration featuring characters from the beloved animated series, Avatar.

Although the developers have not fully unveiled the Avatar-themed content as of this writing, a tantalizing hint was dropped in a recent post on X, urging fans to express their excitement by commenting “I can dig that”if they are looking forward to seeing Venture as Toph.

Community Discontent Over Leaked Avatar Collaboration

The leaked image circulated on a Reddit thread showcased characters including Zenyatta as Aang, Orisa as Appa, Genji as Zuko, Kirikoo as Suki, and Venture as Toph.

A significant criticism from fans is the exclusion of two major characters, Katara and Sokka. Players have expressed their discontent, particularly pointing out that Kiriko seems to be receiving yet another skin, which some describe as a repetitive trend.

One player lamented, “To have an ATLA collab but not include Katara is insane. Suki is a side character; Katara was essential in teaching Aang waterbending. She should be included, especially since her skin was once offered for free.”

Another frustrated user added, “Including Suki but not Katara or Sokka is certainly a bold choice. Plus, that Venture skin is quite disappointing. As someone who enjoys playing them, I have to say, I’m not impressed.”

Additional comments highlight the frustration surrounding Kiriko’s recurring role in new skins. “They could have easily given Illari or Symmetra a Katara skin, but instead, they chose Kiriko again,”noted one irritated gamer.

Despite the fitting concept of Venture portraying an earthbender, many believe that the execution has fallen short. “They could have at least given Venture more accurate features, like black hair akin to Toph or a unique eye color. Instead, it seems like a lazy attempt,”criticized another player.

As the image is not officially verified, it’s wise for patrons to remain skeptical. However, if this crossover follows the pattern of previous collaborations, players can anticipate a limited-time event packed with quests tied to Season 14.
