Silent Hill 2 is an engaging adventure brimming with enigmas and intricate puzzles that are closely tied to its narrative. As players navigate through the game, they encounter a range of clever challenges, notably including a captivating puzzle located within the Lakeview Hotel.
Though the hotel may appear calm and serene, it is actually riddled with terrifying monsters. Among its dark corners lies a music box that lacks several crucial pieces. To piece it back together, you’ll need to thoroughly explore the hotel, which can take a considerable amount of time if done inefficiently.
1. Steps to Solve the Music Box Puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake
To successfully navigate the Music Box puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake, follow these steps:
- Unlock the Music Box using the Ornamental Key.
- Find and insert the three missing Princess figurines into the Music Box.
- Utilize the available slots for the figurines and adjust the four plates accordingly. Align the lines on the plates to match the Figurine and the adjacent exit.
- Rotate the keys in a specific sequence to allow the Figurines to enter the small doors.
- Once wound, the mechanisms will allow the three princesses to enter the doors, completing the puzzle.
To find the Ornamental Key, go to the “Check” reception area, situated southeast of the music box; the key lies beneath the counter and comes with the key to room 312.
The Snow White Figurine can be found in Room 201, the Cinderella Figurine is located in the Conference Room, and the Little Mermaid Figurine awaits you in the Basement of Venus Tears Bar.
2. Locations of the Princess Figurines
2.1 Snow White Figurine
To unlock the Snow White figurine, players must complete the mirror puzzle located in Room 202 of the Lakeview Hotel. Successfully solving this puzzle grants access to Room 201, where the Snow White Figurine is hidden.
2.2. Cinderella Figurines
Located in the fireplace within the Conference Room on the Third Floor of the Lakeview Hotel, the Cinderella Figurine requires two keys for access: the Room 107 Key and the Fireplace Key.
The Room 107 key can be found atop the fireplace in the Conference Room. Once acquired, head into Room 107 and make your way to the garden to locate the Fireplace Key, which is situated on the pavilion.
After obtaining the Fireplace Key, return to the Conference Room to unlock the fireplace and retrieve the Cinderella Figurine within.
2.3. Little Mermaid Figurine
To find the Little Mermaid figurine, players must first procure the Hotel Safe Code to access the Basin Key, which leads to the basement level.
From the first floor of Lakeview Hotel, use the code 7414 on the Break Room safe to acquire the basement key. Once you possess the key, you can enter the basement and collect the Pump Valve from the Maintenance Room before venturing to the boiler room.
To access the area, use the valve on the door outside the Boiler Room, acquire the Venus Tears Bar key, and turn off the gas with the valve inside the bar. Then, inspect the malfunctioning jukebox to find the Little Mermaid figurine.
3. Music Box Puzzle Solution
After you’ve correctly positioned all the figurines, you can manipulate the circular tracks to guide them to their respective doors. Each princess must arrive at a door at the same time, so you need to effectively rotate the three keys and activate each princess’s mechanism. Follow the outlined pattern to complete the sequence in one attempt.
- First Key – rotate it 7 times.
- Second Key – rotate it 5 times.
- Third Key – rotate it 1 time.
Once the puzzle is successfully solved, you will receive a key that unlocks access to the third-floor corridor of Lakeview Hotel, revealing a new section essential for further progress in the storyline.
