Disney accused of “Erasing” The Acolyte After Cancelation

Do you recall The Acolyte, the recently canceled Star Wars show? No? This could be due to fans’ claims that Disney is attempting to “erase”its existence.

This month has been a rollercoaster for the Star Wars timeline, as fans have expressed both excitement and disappointment upon learning that The Acolyte has been cancelled.

Despite the fact that its eight episodes concluded just a month ago, Disney has cancelled any plans for future episodes of the new TV show. However, fans believe that this is not the only thing the studio is attempting to eliminate.

Since August 21, all merchandise for The Acolyte has been removed from the Disney online store. Fans believe that this, along with the abrupt cancelation announcement (showrunner Leslye Headland had envisioned a three-season run), is a deliberate attempt to distract from the show’s perceived lack of success.

“According to a fan who posted on X/Twitter, Disney is making every effort to erase any trace of this show. They seem to be quite embarrassed by it.”

A second person chimed in, saying, “It seems like they’re really trying to erase the show from people’s memories lol,”while a third added, “Do you think it’s going to be removed from Disney Plus soon?”

It is improbable that this last point will occur, as all Star Wars shows and movies are currently categorized separately. If anything, The Acolyte may simply be placed on the back burner without much attention.

Ever since June, it has been one of the most highly-anticipated releases on the streaming service, accompanied by a corresponding marketing campaign.

Some individuals also noted that Disney Plus has a history of taking this approach. For instance, in 2022, Willow was released, but when it failed to generate profitable results, it was conveniently disregarded.

Despite what fans may desire, the Star Wars IP is the major factor that sets The Acolyte apart. While some may try to downplay it, the series has fundamentally altered the lore of the franchise, revealing crucial details such as Darth Plagueis’ backstory and essential information for the BBY timeline.

Another fan chimed in, stating that it was simply pathetic and that Acolyte deserved better.

Despite facing a volatile fan reaction, one fan defended the show by asking, “Did those who claim it deserved better actually support it by purchasing merchandise?”

Despite numerous “woke”complaints, The Acolyte was not canceled for those reasons. We have thoroughly analyzed all the factors that led to its cancellation.

All eight episodes of The Acolyte are currently streaming on Disney Plus. Additionally, viewers can learn about the show’s use of “wokebaiting”on its fans, the inclusion of all members of the Jedi Order, and other new TV shows available to stream this month.
