Disney Chief Raises Concerns about Future MCU Movie Release in 2025

“Fans of Blade are disappointed as they believe that the upcoming MCU reboot has been cancelled, after Disney failed to mention it in a recent memo.”

The fans who saw Wesley Snipes reprise his role as the iconic daywalker in Deadpool & Wolverine should be having a fantastic time. Snipes’ cameo was so impressive that the film’s stars are now advocating for a Logan-style send-off for the character.

However, the recent news has once again brought attention to the upcoming Blade reboot in the MCU. First announced in 2019, the film is set to feature Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth and has undergone multiple release date changes.

Despite the release date remaining set for November 2025, the absence of any mention of the project in a statement by Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnston about Disney’s 2025 plans has led fans to believe that it has been canceled.

Fans are convinced the MCU Blade reboot is canceled and are calling for a Wesley Snipes return instead.

“According to the statement, our theatrical lineup for 2025 will continue to be strong, featuring highly anticipated films such as Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Zootopia 2, and Avatar 3. Additionally, 2026 will bring even more excitement with the release of Avengers: Doomsday, a new Star Wars film showcasing the beloved characters of the Mandalorian and Grogu, and the long-awaited Toy Story 5, the first installment since 2019.”

According to fans, Blade is the only upcoming MCU film that was not mentioned in the messaging. This has sparked speculation that the film may have been canceled. On the MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit, fans are sharing their frustration and questioning why the film has not even been acknowledged.

One fan expressed their frustration, stating that Disney should have delayed the film when they announced updates to their slate a few days ago. They believed that it was impossible for the film to be released in November 2025, as anyone familiar with the industry and filming schedules would know. The fan suggested that Disney should just accept the delay and make an official announcement.

The unveiling of Blade took place at SDCC 2019 as a grand finale, with Marvel chief Kevin Feige inviting Mahershala Ali on stage to reveal his role in the film. Following this, the project has experienced changes in leadership, with two different directors and several revisions to the screenplay.

Currently, the Blade reboot within the MCU does not have a director attached. However, Eric Pearson, a screenwriter who has contributed to various MCU films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow, is currently in the process of writing the latest script.

Although Blade’s release date (if any) remains uncertain, you can still learn about Shawn Levy’s plans for the upcoming Deadpool movie or the potential for the Deadpool cover to become the most valuable piece of comic book artwork.
