Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Latest Star Path Criticized as a Major Disappointment

Disney Dreamlight Valley has rolled out its Jungle Getaway update, which introduces an all-new Star Path themed around concerts and punk culture, alongside a fresh lineup of backpacks created in collaboration with Loungefly. However, this update has not resonated well with many fans, who are voicing their discontent.

This Star Path operates similarly to battle passes found in other games, allowing players to complete various tasks to earn tokens that can be redeemed for exclusive, new rewards during the ongoing update.

Despite this, the current offerings have led to disappointment among the game’s community, with numerous players criticizing it as mere “product placement” and expressing feelings of being “ripped off” by Gameloft.

One player expressed their dissatisfaction on the subreddit for the game, stating, “I feel a bit cheated by this new star path. I understand they don’t want to repeat Halloween themes, but this feels more like a marketing push for the backpack collab rather than an exciting update they’re proud of.”

Many echoed this sentiment, with one fan remarking, “This is the first time I won’t be purchasing a pass since the game launched. The last couple of updates have significantly improved upon previous ones, making this feel like a major setback.”

In addition to the frustration over the backpack collaboration, several players felt that the theme simply didn’t align with the game’s overall aesthetic, especially given that Halloween is just around the corner—a time when Disney typically shines.

“I honestly dislike this one entirely, and it makes me sad,” one user lamented, while another shared their irritation by saying, “The absence of any Halloween content is really upsetting me.”

Another fan added, “I’m not sold on this one. I probably won’t utilize more than half of these items.”

Ultimately, players pointed out the overwhelming product placement tied to the Loungefly collaboration, the missing Halloween decorations, and a significantly reduced rewards section as key factors contributing to their dissatisfaction.

Last year’s Star Path was exclusively Halloween-themed for the October update, and it was exceptionally well-received. Traditionally, players could enjoy seven pages of rewards to choose from, contrasting with the current six pages available—indicating not only a shift away from themes fans adore, but also a decrease in rewards to track down.

Nonetheless, not every fan was displeased. One user vocally appreciated the rewards, exclaiming, “I absolutely love the rewards! Those combat boots with various colored laces? I’m actually wearing combat boots right now! I’m indifferent about the stage and instruments (I generally avoid decorating), but the clothing and hairstyles are A++ and completely my style.”

Others were quick to commend the removal of motifs, a longstanding annoyance for numerous players: “The absence of motifs is the biggest win for me.”

While a considerable number of fans have expressed their letdown regarding the latest Star Path, others are excited about the infusion of styles that resonate with them in this cozy game. Fortunately, a Halloween event is approaching, ensuring there are still some eerie delights and challenges to look forward to.
