Disney+ users are beginning to terminate their subscriptions in anticipation of an upcoming significant price increase.
This isn’t the first time Disney+ has implemented a price hike; previously, the streaming platform reportedly lost 1.3 million subscribers following a price adjustment in February. In August, subscribers expressed dissatisfaction over another price increase alongside the addition of features that many deemed unhelpful.
Now, the situation is set to repeat itself. Effective October 17, 2024, the subscription rates will rise. The cost for Disney+ Basic (With Ads) will jump from $7.99 to $9.99 per month, while Disney+ Premium (No Ads) will increase from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.
The Disney Bundle Trio (Basic With Ads) will see its price rise from $14.99 to $16.99 monthly, and the Disney Bundle Trio Premium will go up from $24.99 to $26.99 per month. Additionally, the annual fee for Disney+ (Without Ads) will escalate from $139.99 to $159.99.

The Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) package is no longer available for any new subscribers or those looking to switch plans. Current subscribers can maintain their existing plan as long as they do not cancel or modify their subscription.
In light of the announced price increase, numerous customers have opted to cancel their subscriptions. One Reddit user shared, “I canceled and I’ll just hope they send some kind of renewing deal. I barely use it anymore.”
Another commenter noted, “I canceled mine today. Years ago I paid $86, last year it increased to $151, and now it’s going up again and I only have Disney+, not any bundles. It’s just not worth the expense.”
“I just canceled my subscription and switched to Netflix,” another user mentioned. “I’ll return if/when they actually introduce new content that justifies the cost.”
