The rumors were sparked during a live radio broadcast of a baseball game on KNN, when the commentators brought up the alleged divorce of Hwang Jae-gyun.
The caster was asked by commentator Lee Gwang-gil if they were aware of Hwang Jae-gyun’s recent divorce. Surprised by the news, the caster exclaimed, “What? Hwang Jae-gyun?”To which Lee Gwang-gil replied, “We can discuss it at a later time.”
During the conversation, the caster inquired, “Is there any article related to this?”To which Lee Gwang-gil responded, “I learned about it from the director. He was having a hard time during the game. What can you do when there are problems at home?”Lee Gwang-gil further commented, “It’s inevitable. A peaceful household leads to success.”
As a result, there has been a rapid spread of online divorce rumors between Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2022, had previously been known for openly sharing their joyful moments together.
Fueling the rumors, Jiyeon posted on her YouTube community, “I will be taking a temporary hiatus from uploading videos due to personal reasons. I appreciate your understanding and I promise to come back with a positive attitude.” This statement added credibility to the speculations about their divorce.
At first, it was believed that this post was about hurtful remarks aimed at Hwang Jae-gyun. However, with the emergence of divorce rumors, internet users started to question if the couple was truly planning to end their marriage.
On June 5th, during a match between Hanwha Eagles and kt wiz, Hanwha player Park Sang-won made an excessive strikeout celebration, causing frustration from the trailing kt team, who were behind by 10 runs.
