DJ Akademiks, a well-known streamer, podcast host, and music commentator, recently faced a ban from Twitch after he went live with Adin Ross, a streamer who has been suspended from the platform since February 2023 for what Twitch described as ‘hateful conduct.’ Ross was permanently banned after displaying his Kick chat for an extended period during a stream.
Despite Todd Clancy, the CEO of Twitch, suggesting that there might be a chance to review Adin’s suspension, more than a year has passed without any progress.
On October 15, 2024, DJ Akademiks found himself banned from Twitch while streaming along with the banned streamer Adin Ross.

While the exact cause of his ban remains unverified, Twitch enforces strict policies that prohibit interactions with banned users during a stream. According to their account enforcement guidelines, individuals who have been banned “cannot appear or take part in streams of third-party channels.”
The guidelines also state, “If a banned individual appears on a third-party channel while under suspension, it could lead to the suspension of that channel as well.”
Trying to access Akademiks’ Twitch channel will result in a message indicating that the account is “temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”
With over 500,000 followers on the platform, Akademiks frequently streams reactions to trending rap and hip-hop tracks and hosts interviews with prominent personalities in the music industry.
Many viewers expressed confusion over the situation, especially in light of the fact that Twitch recently reinstated Sneako’s account, a controversial figure who had faced a ban two years earlier.
A Twitter/X user questioned the discrepancy, “Didn’t Twitch just let Sneako back? What gives with Adin Ross?!”
Another commenter added, “Twitch acts like no one has ever streamed with Adin before.”
Following his ban, Akademiks announced his plans to stream on YouTube, sharing multiple updates to remind critics of his impressive viewership figures.
I Will. I’ll be back streaming tonight on YT at 8 PM EST for another 7 hours with over 17,000 watching concurrently the whole time. Anyhow.. Hows ur podcast views looking tho? Probably could use a Kendrick Lamar stimmy huh? https://t.co/7L6qTbOc8a
