There has been a significant amount of leaked information about DJI’s soon-to-be-released compact drone, the DJI Neo, which has led to much speculation about its lightweight specifications.
DJI is preparing to introduce its inaugural ultra-compact drone, the DJI Neo. Although the official launch date and specifications have not been announced by the company, numerous leaks have divulged nearly all details about the forthcoming camera drone.
According to a post by leaker Igor Bogdanov on X (formerly known as Twitter), the DJI Neo is set to be released on August 20. The company is expected to unveil a Fly More combo, a Motion Fly More combo, and the drone itself.
DJI Mini 4 Pro
According to Igor, the release date for the DJI Action 5 Pro action camera is set for August 28.
Based on the technical specifications released on X by JasperEllens, the DJI Neo will come with a DJI RC-N3 remote control and will be compatible with DJI Goggles 3 as part of the Fly More Combo.
According to the leaked specifications, the upcoming drone is expected to have a weight of only 135 grams, making it significantly lighter than top-of-the-line smartphones such as the iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
According to the leaked information, the DJI Neo will come equipped with a 12MP lens and a 1/2-inch sensor, providing a 117.6 degrees FOV. The camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 FPS and Full HD videos (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 60 FPS. Additionally, it will offer seven flight modes, such as Normal, Cinema, Sports, and Manual.
The DJI Neo is expected to come with 22GB of internal storage and will not have the option for storage expansion through an SD card. Leaked information suggests that it will have a maximum flight range of seven kilometers, an internal GPS system, and the capability to switch to a first-person mode.
The upcoming drone and its accessories have been showcased in all their glory by another leaker, Arsène Lupin, who has posted a series of photos on his Twitter account.
Hot-swappable batteries & more
Based on the leaks, the drone bears a striking resemblance to DJI’s compact FPV drone, Avata 2. However, the Neo is specifically designed for recreational drone photography and filming, making it slightly smaller in size compared to the new FPV drone. Additionally, it boasts a range of distinctive features.
The leaks have also uncovered a 1435 mAh battery that is capable of providing 17 to 18 minutes of flight time. The battery is conveniently replaceable, allowing you to easily switch to a fully charged unit and extend your flying experience.
Fortunately, it is highly probable that the drone will be launched on August 20, which implies that we won’t have to wait for an extended period of time.
