DJI’s Latest Selfie Drones Undergo Pre-Launch Testing

The anticipated global announcement of the micro drone from DJI is scheduled for next week. However, this has not deterred creators from already producing videos about the drone.

DJI, recognized for its drones, cameras, and ground-breaking products, utilized X (formerly known as Twitter) to disclose the official release date of its latest selfie drone, DJI Neo. The announcement only discloses the name of the device and its scheduled launch date of September 5.

Despite creating a microsite for its upcoming product, the company has only included a silhouette of the tiny drone, the launch date, and a “notify me”button for users to sign up for product updates.

However, a YouTuber who focuses on travel has managed to obtain the yet-to-be-released product before it is officially revealed.

The vlog reported that while in Malaysia, they visited multiple DJI stores before ultimately obtaining the drone well before its official release.

The YouTuber claimed that the most basic version of the drone costs 199 Euros and has a weight of only 135 grams. If this information is accurate, it will pose a strong competition to other similar devices such as the HoverAir X1, which is priced at $349. This will definitely give them a tough competition.

The Neo, unlike other DJI drones, is compact enough to be held in the palm of one’s hand. The retail package for the standard version includes spare propellers, a Type C to C cable, a screwdriver, and the drone itself.

According to the video, which supports previous leaks, the drone can be operated without a controller and can be launched directly from the palm of your hand.

Despite this, the YouTuber mentioned, “It may be an understatement to call it just a selfie drone,” implying that it could have multiple other applications besides simply taking self-videos and pictures.
