The good news is out: the release date for season 14 of Doctor Who has finally been revealed. And the Doctor doesn’t have long before he shows up!
The Lord of Time is preparing to return in a new adventure, this time in the guise of Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education): Doctor Who had already offered glimpses of this new hero with the Christmas episodes, but this is especially the season 14 that viewers are impatiently waiting for.
The BBC and Disney announced at the end of 2023 a partnership for the broadcast of the iconic series. Outside of England, Disney+ will broadcast the next batch of episodes, renamed “Season 1” . And it won’t be long before this new chapter invades our small screens.
Doctor Who season 14 is coming soon
The TARDIS will soon land: Doctor Who returns on May 11, 2024, in a first episode broadcast at 1 a.m. on Disney+.
The streaming platform has indeed negotiated the exclusive broadcast of the British series, and announced its arrangement with the English channel BBC in October 2023. Already at the time, Russell T. Davies, the showrunner of Doctor Who since 2005, had made shares his enthusiasm in the press release:
“I love this series. This agreement is ideal, as the support of the BBC and Disney+ will allow us to both send our TARDISes, these extraordinary machines capable of traveling in time and space, to the four corners of the world, to reach a new generation of fans.”
No detailed synopsis has been shared at this time, in an effort to avoid spoilers. But the series hints that the Time Lord played by Ncuti Gatwa and his new friend, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), “will face new monsters as they embark on many out-of-this-world adventures in the TARDIS.”
