Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 require an internet connection?

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, an internet connection isn’t the first thing you think you need. However, in today’s video game landscape, it is always good to know if you need to be connected online to play the game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a game that promises a huge world to explore. Capcom’s fantasy RPG will challenge players to navigate its landscape and expand their specialization with vocations. Within this, you will have a collection of group members and followers who can help you on your journey.

This might make you wonder if you can play with friends online, but unfortunately, that’s not possible. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single-player game, and you will have to face its enemies without the help of real friends.

Which might lead you to think that the game wouldn’t need an internet connection…right? Here’s everything you need to know.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to tackle all of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s mammoth challenges alone.

Can you play Dragon’s Dogma 2 offline?

Unfortunately, Dragon’s Dogma 2 requires an Internet connection. We know this from the game’s specs on Steam. In the specifications, at a minimum, it says: “Network: High-speed Internet connection.”

However, what is unclear is why the game will need an internet connection. Since it doesn’t have a multiplayer mode, it shouldn’t need one. You’ll be able to share the Pawns you design online for your friends to use, so it still has some functionality.

The main reason you’ll need an Internet connection is probably Capcom’s DRM protections. To combat piracy, many recent Capcom games have included Denuvo, such as the Resident Evil 4 remake. It is therefore likely that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will also employ this system.

This could be removed, as Capcom did with Resident Evil Village, however, but it took a while. You definitely shouldn’t expect this at launch.
