Dr Disrespect, a popular YouTuber, has voiced his belief that Call of Duty is utilizing AI to aid in the creation of Warzone. He believes this is the reason for the game’s “poor flow”in the battle royale mode.
Despite its widespread impact on various industries such as art and fast food, AI remains a highly controversial technology. According to Dr Disrespect, there is still much room for improvement before it can truly enhance the gaming experience.
The description for an animator role at Treyarch, posted on April 28, mentioned the task of refining 2D art created by both humans and generative AI tools. This sparked a lot of discussion within the CoD community.
Despite other players also expressing their concerns about the use of AI, it was Dr Disrespect who was the most vocal, as he attributed some of the design flaws in Warzone to the technology.
“His criticism of the poorly designed structures in Warzone and their problematic flow was not new, as he had been pointing out for years that they appeared to be generated by artificial intelligence.”
All these awkwardly designed structures in Warzone that have terrible flow are, like I’ve been saying for years, AI generated. https://t.co/UdwiG7ugV8

When questioned about his potential for improvement, the two-time streamer was blunt, stating on Twitter that he could do “much better.”He also pointed out the previous success of other companies who have utilized AI.
The YouTuber mentioned how the developers utilized the human brain in games such as H1Z1, PUBG, Blackout, Warzone Verdansk, and Apex.
Dr Disrespect has an extensive background in game design, having previously worked as a level designer for multiple maps in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. He has since established his own studio, Midnight Society, and is currently developing their first game, a Vertical Extraction Shooter titled Deadrop.
Based on Doc’s reaction to AI in Call of Duty, it is reasonable to conclude that Deadrop will not incorporate AI into their development process, at least not in terms of level or art design.
The YouTuber has frequently spoken out against Call of Duty, and this is not the first instance. In the past year, Doc stood in support of NICKMERCS when the game’s creators removed the FaZe member’s Warzone skin. In March, he criticized CoD for “giving up on itself”after his team was attacked by a possible hacker.
