Dr Disrespect Criticizes Kick After CEO Claims Signing Him Could “Harm” the Platform

Banned Twitch personality Dr Disrespect expressed that he would prefer to “retire”rather than transition to Kick, following comments from the platform’s CEO, who labeled the idea of signing him as financially imprudent.

In June, former employees of Twitch revealed details about Dr Disrespect’s enigmatic ban from 2020, claiming he had engaged in inappropriate messaging with a minor.

The streamer, whose real name is Guy Beahm, acknowledged the validity of the allegations but later elaborated, suggesting that the context of the messages was misconstrued and that Twitch had a hand in his ban.

Although Dr Disrespect has returned to streaming on YouTube and is currently waiting for updates on his monetization appeal, a move to Kick seems unlikely.

In a tweet dated October 15, Dr Disrespect stated, “I’d retire before considering streaming on Kick. My community is the best in the industry… I wouldn’t take it there. They keep mentioning my name for a reason. Think about it.”

On October 12, Edward Kraven, CEO and co-founder of Kick, informed Slasher that the platform has no intention of pursuing a deal with Dr Disrespect.

“From a financial and business standpoint, making a deal with Dr Disrespect makes no sense right now,” he commented. “It would inflict more damage on Kick and would be a waste of money at this juncture, in my opinion.”

Interestingly, before the controversy surrounding his ban with Twitch, Kick had been prepared to offer Beahm a substantial $10 million per year contract, which he declined, insisting on a $50 million deal instead.

“Fifty million and you get the two-time,” he claimed. “Otherwise, I’m not interested. My community is immensely strong here. We’re well-established, the numbers are staggering, and I’m cruising along, driving multiple Lamborghinis. There’s no rush,” he stated.

Dr Disrespect justified his decision to turn down the offer partly due to his business projects, including his gaming studio, Midnight Society. However, since then, Beahm has exited the studio, and Midnight Society has made it clear that he will not be welcomed back.

Meanwhile, Dr Disrespect is still waiting on news from YouTube regarding his monetization, having been demonetized following the revelations surrounding his Twitch ban. Nevertheless, he maintains his position as the second most-watched gaming star on US YouTube, trailing only IShowSpeed.
