Dr Disrespect Remains YouTube’s Second Most-Watched Streamer in the US Amid Controversy

Dr Disrespect, renowned for his larger-than-life persona, continues to dominate the streaming scene on YouTube even after a two-month break following revelations surrounding his ban from Twitch.

In June, allegations surfaced from former Twitch employees claiming that Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm, was banned in 2020 for sending inappropriate messages to a minor.

Shortly thereafter, in a now-deleted tweet, Dr Disrespect admitted to sending those messages using Twitch’s Whispers feature, and disclosed his intention to take an extended family vacation.

During his nearly two-month absence from streaming, from June 24 to September 6, Dr Disrespect remained active on social media, posting vague hints about his anticipated return.

Dr Disrespect is back streaming on YouTube.

Upon his return on September 6, he delivered a sensational broadcast, alleging that Twitch staff had conspired to impose his ban, while firmly denying any exchange of graphic texts or images with the minor.

This return stream became Dr Disrespect’s most viewed broadcast on YouTube, peaking at 223,460 concurrent viewers.

Despite the surrounding controversies and his two-month hiatus, Beahm continues to outperform many of his competitors on YouTube, including former acquaintances like TimTheTatman and Dr Lupo.

As reported by Streams Charts, Dr Disrespect ranks as the second most-watched US streamer on YouTube, garnering 14.08 million hours viewed with just 555 hours of streaming.

In comparison, Ludwig has accumulated 10.19 million hours watched with 662 streaming hours, while Dr Lupo, ranked tenth among US streamers, has pulled in 3.58 million hours after 1,230 streaming hours.

Dr Disrespect remains one of YouTube’s most popular creators.

However, the statistics of all these streamers pale in comparison to IShowSpeed. The burgeoning IRL content creator has amassed nearly 25 million hours watched in just 337 hours of airtime, the fewest among the top 10.

Even if Dr Disrespect hadn’t taken that two-month break, it seems improbable that he would have been able to catch up to IShowSpeed given the significant lead Speed has over the competition.

Both IShowSpeed and Dr Disrespect have consistently ranked near the top of video viewership metrics on YouTube, with their rivalry extending into 2024.

On September 18, Speed achieved another remarkable feat, reaching 1 million concurrent viewers during a live stream of his Asian tour, moved by fan support to the point of tears before performing one of his signature backflips in celebration.
