Dr Disrespect has officially reapplied for YouTube monetization following the major controversy surrounding his Twitch ban.
The rise and fall of Dr Disrespect, one of the most infamous figures in gaming, has been extensively documented. However, the controversial streamer is now on a mission to reclaim his former glory.
As speculation swirled about where Doc might return, he has chosen YouTube as his platform of choice once again. After a few weeks of steadily streaming on the site post-hiatus, he shared an update on X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that he had reapplied for YouTube monetization.
The image he shared included an automated message from YouTube, indicating that he should receive a decision about his application “within a month.”

If Dr Disrespect is successful in his YouTube monetization reapplication, he will be able to generate revenue beyond direct donations, thereby enhancing engagement on his channel. This success would mean he won’t have to pivot to other platforms like Kick or Rumble.
Nevertheless, the submission of his reapplication does not guarantee success. Notable content creators, including David Dobrik and James Charles, have experienced lengthy periods of demonetization on YouTube without reinstatement.
Therefore, it remains uncertain if Dr Disrespect’s reapplication for YouTube monetization will be successful. We’ll keep you updated on this story as it develops and share YouTube’s verdict on his application within the upcoming month.
There’s no guarantee that YouTube will reinstate Doc’s ability to generate revenue on the platform.
Having gained notoriety on Twitch, Dr Disrespect faced a permanent ban from the platform in June 2020.
At the time, the reasons behind his ban were unclear, prompting Doc to migrate to YouTube, where he has maintained a consistent streaming presence.
However, on June 25, 2024, Doc confirmed that the rumors about being banned from Twitch due to sending DMs to a minor through Twitch whispers were indeed accurate.
As a result of this controversy, Doc was removed from the game studio he co-founded, Midnight Society, and lost several high-profile brand deals with companies like Nike, the NFL, and NBA 2K.
Despite these setbacks, Doc has already started to make a slow return to the limelight. His first stream after confirming the reasons behind his Twitch ban set a new personal viewership record on the platform. Additionally, he remains YouTube’s second most-watched streamer in the US.
